Tepextate + Tobala | June 2022 | Gilberto Aquino García | ENNGAG2206 | 108 bottles

Gilberto crafted this remarkable ensamble with two of Miahuatlán most renowned wild agaves, Tepextate and Tobalá. Totaling nearly 2,000kg in weight evenly divided between the two different magueyes, Gilberto harvested 40 capón Tobalá and 30 piñas of capón Tepextate from the steep ravines and hills surrounding San Antonio Chiguivana, the sight of the first hacienda in Miahuatlán and probable point of the first distillation of spirits in the region during the 1700s. While the hacenderos once produced aguadiente made from pressed sugarcane, the area remains known for the quality of its endemic and wild maguey.

Quintessentially miahuateco in its aromas and flavors, this batch is a fantastic reflection of the lands, plants, and master craftsmanship of the region. In June of 2022, Gilberto finished distillation and composed 80 liters at 47.5% using a careful mix of heads, hearts, and high- proof tails.
