While we do not offer palenque tours at this time, if you are planning a visit to Oaxaca City, we would be happy to welcome you for a guided tasting at the tasting room we share with 5 Sentidos in the barrio Jalatlaco. You may book appointments for a maximum of 8 people from Monday to Sunday. The cost per person for 90 minutes is $850 MXN which you can pay by cash or card. During your session, you are welcome to taste from our diverse collection of mezcales with the guidance of someone from our team who can speak to their history and origin.

In preparation for your tasting, we encourage you to arrive hydrated, having eaten at least two hours prior and preferably without having had any other alcoholic beverages to drink. Please refrain from using perfumes, colognes, or lotions that might interfere with your sense of smell.

Meet our Tasting Room Coordinator

Michael Zarkesh has lived in Oaxaca since 2020, where his work and interests have brought him into close contact with agave spirits producers, restaurants, and others working in food and beverage. His interests extend beyond agave spirits to fermentation, agriculture, international cuisines, food preservation, music, and composting.

Michael is also an experienced beer judge with a strong background in sensory analysis and fermented beverages. He approaches agave spirits through this broader interest in how things are grown, made, tasted, and shared.

At NETA tastings, Michael guides guests through selections from our collection, drawing on his knowledge of the producers, communities, production methods, and histories behind each batch. Tastings can range from a general introduction to traditional agave spirits to a deeper exploration of particular producers, regions, agave varieties, and production techniques.

At Ixtle, we offer intimate agave spirits tastings for groups of 1-6 people, with the intention of educating palates and minds through informative degustations. If you are planning a visit to Mexico City, we will be happy to welcome you. The cost per person for 90 minutes is $1200 MXN which you can pay by cash or card.
