While we do not offer palenque tours at this time, if you are planning a visit to Oaxaca City, we would be happy to welcome you for a guided tasting at our tasting room in the barrio Jalatlaco. You may book appointments for a maximum of 8 people from Monday to Sunday. The cost per person for 90 minutes is $700 MXN in cash. During your session, you are welcome to taste from our diverse collection of mezcales with the guidance of someone from our team who can speak to their history and origin.

In preparation for your tasting, we encourage you to arrive hydrated, having eaten at least two hours prior and preferably without having had any other alcoholic beverages to drink. Please refrain from using perfumes, colognes, or lotions that might interfere with your sense of smell.

Michael Zarkesh

Michael Zarkesh is a dedicated advocate for mezcal and Oaxacan cultures. Of Persian-American descent, he has lived in Oaxaca for over five years, immersing himself in the region’s rich traditions. Through deep connections with mezcaleros, restaurants, and producers, he has become a member of the community, sharing their stories and craftsmanship with the world.

Beyond mezcal, Michael is a world-class beer judge, bringing a refined palate and extensive knowledge of craft beverages and fermentation. His passion extends to international cuisine, agriculture, sensory analysis, music, food preservation, and composting—each pursuit a reflection of his relentless curiosity. With a deep respect for tradition, he constantly experiments, viewing gastronomy as a timeless art form.

During his tastings, Michael guides participants through the exceptional mezcals of Neta, blending expert insight with captivating stories, history, and hidden details of the craft. His approach transforms each tasting into an unforgettable journey through the flavors and diverse cultures of Oaxaca.
