Ensamble Pulquero + Mexicano Verde | December 2021 | Hugo García Maldonado | ENNHGO2112 | Summer 2022 Release | Para Yana | 126 Bottles

This tremendously unique field blend made in the cold and dry month of December 2021, was crafted from two different species of cultivated agave that Hugo acquired from a friend in the neighboring rancheria of El Chino. Although quite rare, the Agave americana type known as Pulque Penca Larga is one of the more prominent pulque yielding agaves in the valley of eastern Miahuatlán. It is often grown close to households, or co-planted in fields with other agave, often accompanied by the corn, bean, and squash plantings that compose a healthy agricultural system. These maguey have very few convertible sugars, and as a result, yield a comparatively lesser amount than many other agaves. The Mexicano Verde is a micro-endemic Agave rhodacantha type native to the region surrounding El Nanche and Mengoli, just a few kilometers north of Logoche. The mix of agave by weight was approximately 60% Pulquero and 40% Mexicano Verde.
