Expressive of the terruño of Miahuatlán, this tiny batch was fermented and distilled by Antonia Vásquez Pacheco, the wife of legendary producer don Tomás Gárcia Cruz, with assistance from their grandson, Miguel García Ortiz. While Antonia has always lent a hand around the palenque, this is the first batch in decades in which she had total creative control.  On November 2, 2023, Miguel selected six cultivated capón Madrecuixe plants and 13 piñas of wild Coyote de guía from a rocky and white parcel of family land known as El Guayabal. Co-fermented in nearly equal proportions by weight, a single sabino wood fermentation vat was filled with approximately 700kg of perfectly cooked and well-macerated maguey. The quality of the cook, relatively high sugar content, and low ambient temperatures dictated a 72-hour dry fermentation period until well water was added to the fibers and juices. Eight days later, Antonio deemed the mash ready for distillation, which she conducted with low heat and great patience. Cuts were made in accordance with her own taste and sensibilities, with the final composition made with a mix of heads, hearts, and tails. Adjusting until the presence of a beautiful cordón cerrado, Antonia crafted a total of 45 liters with enticing aromas, rich viscosity, and robust flavors.
